Karl Elsener, the founder of the company, chose the name ‘Victoria’ after his deceased mother, who died in 1909. The company continued to trade under the name Victoria until 1921. They have used their symbol since that year – a cross in the middle of a red shield. In 1921, stainless steel was first introduced into a series of Victorian products and thus the term ‘Inox’ was added to its name – Inox became the French term for metal.

They have been trading as Victorinox ever since. Originally, the Swiss army had two suppliers of their Army knives; Victorinox and Wenger. In 2005, Victorinox actually bought the Wenger brand, and now only supplies it to the Army. Since both brands supplied the army knives initially, two brand names – Swiss Genuine Victorinox ‘Knives and Wegner’s’ Genuine Swiss Army Knife’ remain intact. This remains the company’s main product, although their other range of products is fast becoming popular. The Victorinox kitchen knife sold by the company does not bear the Swiss Army brand logo, and Victorinox also sells kitchen utensils under the name ‘Forschner’. Victorinox kitchen knife collections expand rapidly, with large and small knives available, as well as set knives (and cases to hold them) sold by many catering equipment suppliers. The smaller Victorinox kitchen knives include a peeler and a knife.
They can be purchased separately, or as part of a set. Victorinox kitchen knife is equipped with a variety of knives, including fillet blades, rotary knives, jagged sculptures and palette knives. They also include other essential dinnerware items such as potato peelerers and forks. This knife set goes in a roll bag, but an external carry case is also available for purchase.
